Jterm Work (pt. 1)

*Here's to hoping I follow up with a second part. I think I'll put up two or three more works after this.

Layout & Design - "And You Are...?"

For our first project in the Jterm class we were given the open-ended task to create something that we could introduce ourselves with to someone we have not met before. I painted/crafted/assembled this guy. It's acrylic paints on newspaper & heavy paper (on cardboard). I folded the origami sailboat out of a somewhat lighter paper.

Layout & Design - "Georgie Porgie"

Georgie Porgie pudding and pie

kissed all the girls and made them cry

when all the boys came out to play

Georgie Porgie ran away

Our professor had us take this classic children's poem and try to give it a visual representation using only selected characters from a symbols typeface (like Wingdings or Webdings) . I chose to research the roots of the story (kind of creepy for a children's tale) and apply that meaning to a more modern sense. Essentially it is about exploitation. And yes, I know it's kind of creepy, but that is the point.

Layout & Design - Brochure

Okay, so it's a post card, but given the requirements and information that we had, this really fit what I was wanting to do. We were to make a brochure for Taylor's Director of Conferences & Special Events--advertising the fact that Taylor's campus is open for conferences and special events. I wish there were some way to reach into my computer monitor and hand you the physical postcard--my printing and cutting went so well that it really looked rather spiffy.

I am pretty sure my design wasn't the one used for summer advertising, but I am still very happy with how this turned out.
